Artist Statement
I am primarily an oil painter,
watercolorist, and photographer although I enjoy working in many other
media. I especially enjoy painting lighthouses and landscapes with an
emphasis on the Yosemite Valley. I was born in Columbus, Ohio,
raised in Ojai, California and spent 26 years in the United States Navy.
I served all
over the country including California, Willow Grove, Pennsylvainia,
New Orleans, Louisiana, and Quincy, Massachusetts. I had the privilege
of retiring on the deck of the USS Constitution. I have attended
many different colleges over the years including The Columbus College
of Art and Design and The Academy of Art College in San Francisco.
I have attended many other Junior Colleges.
Exploring different painting styles and subjects is an ever growing
and learning process. As an artist I try different things
enjoying the possibilities of creating art as an idea progresses. I
don't concentrate on a style, rather I explore different possibilities
and then allow what I have accomplished to define my style. I
paint in my home studio in Lockport, New York where I have a florida
room with many windows for great lighting and a lot of space to work on
many paintings at a time. |
